CONSTELACIONES by  DANIEL CANOGAR

“Constelaciones" is a permanent public installation made on the vaulted ceiling of two new pedestrian bridges crossing the Manzanares river in Madrid. It is made up of more than 6.5 million tiles of the MIKRA series. These 2 colossal murals photographically represent neighbours of the two districts that the bridges are connecting. These neighbours were photographed so that they look as if they were flying in the air. The work reminds the weightless representation of human beings in frescos and sacred mosaics of the past. The pixels of the pictures taken by the artist DANIEL CANOGAR where turned into the tiles of these murals, gathering together ancient techniques and contemporary procesess.
